Rockin’ first for Aussie music icon
Australian rock icon Tim Rogers is to become the first Lifetime Ambassador for The Breakfast Club Redcliffe.
Rogers, a singer, songwriter, performer and frontman of You Am I, will be inducted at R26TH, Rockin’ 4 the Homeless on July 12.
It is a significant moment for The Breakfast Club which has been helping those experiencing homelessness, hardship, isolation and crisis on the peninsula since 2013.
As Lifetime Ambassador, Rogers will be an advocate and national voice for the club and help amplify its important work.
“Having Tim become the first Ambassador for such a grassroots charity is an incredible boost for this community,” Dan Nebe, founder of Rockin’ 4 The Homeless, said.
“In a time of crisis like never before, this event means so much.
“I’ve worked on the front lines and done the dishes many times over the years and I’ve seen these volunteers work with an unbelievable amount of heart, belief and endurance.
“They run on a very small budget, but they assist the community in more ways than most people will ever know.
“They feed people. They listen. They connect people with support. They protect dignity when dignity is often the first thing taken away.
“The Breakfast Club is a community group supported by community. That is its strength. That is its beauty.
“Tim standing beside them tells the whole country that this little Redcliffe charity matters.”
He will join the likes of Sting, Sir Bob Geldorf, Jason Bonham and Of Monsters and Men who have supported Rockin’ 4 The Homeless.
Rogers is one of Australia’s most recognisable storytellers, known for his honesty, poetry, hard-earned charisma and a connection to ordinary Australians.
As the voice behind one of the country’s most important rock bands, he has spent more than 30 years turning lived experience into songs.
You Am I have won 10 ARIA Awards, released 11 studio albums and were inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame in 2025.
Operating out of the Peninsula Support Hub, The Breakfast Club works alongside community and emergency response partners.
The Hub offers meals, housing referrals, case management, showers, laundry facilities, food hampers, internet access and a place to belong.
“For many guests, it is not only a service. It is a pause in the storm. A room where they are known. A place where someone still looks them in the eye,” Dan Nebe said.
Rockin’ 4 The Homeless is on Sunday July 12, from 11am-6pm at Redcliffe Dolphin/Redcliffe Leagues Club in Kippa-Ring. Entry is free. All ages welcome.
