Saddle up for new bike trails
Construction work on Moreton Bay region’s new $700,000 mountain bike trails is expected to finish next month.
The Lagoon Road Mountain Bike Trails will be 3kms long through bush land near Grogan Road Park, Burpengary.
Each has been designed to cater for all levels and with wooden berms, dirt jumps, boardwalks, rollers and tabletops.
The main trail head will beside the intersection of Morayfield Rd and Graham Rd for the flow trail, jump trail and climbing/return trail.
Councillor Mark Booth (Div 2) said the Lagoon Road Mountain Bike Trails will give the community a space to connect and stay active.
“This project was born out of childhood memories of riding my bike from Narangba through Burpengary and Morayfield to hang out with mates,” he said.
“I’m stoked we’re moving full speed ahead with this project that’s so close to my heart.
“I can’t wait to see this project come to life and for our community to start making memories on these tracks.”
Mayor Peter Flannery believes the three trails will “get people outdoors, challenging themselves, and experiencing the natural beauty our City has to offer”.
Cr Booth said heavy rain had caused a delay in the start of construction six months ago and there were "unexpected logistical challenges”.
He thanked residents for their “patience and support” during the work.
