Sale plans for golf course land

Plans have been lodged to divide a former Moreton Bay golf course into three lots – before it goes to auction.

Under the proposal, the 10-hectares of Albany Links golf course on South Pine Rd would be reconfigured into a main block of just under 8ha.

This borders three sides of Eatons Hill Hotel and shops and the Cribb Rd access to South Pine Sports Centre.

Two smaller parcels of land, each around 1ha, beside South Pine Sports Complex and South Pine River, would be retained by Moreton Bay City Council.

The site is owned by Council which has engaged Saunders Havill Group to make a development application (DA) on its behalf.

“A parcel of land at 638 South Pine Rd, Brendale confirmed as being surplus to Council requirement, will be put to auction at a date yet to be confirmed,” a Council spokesperson said.

“The sale will provide an immediate financial return, which Council will reinvest into vital services and programs that support the community.

“To maintain community access along the South Pine River, preserve key public space and support ecological restoration, City of Moreton Bay will retain 2.15ha, safeguarding green open space for continued public use.

“The site is currently zoned as Recreation and Open Space and will be sold with this zoning in place.

“Any future development on the site will remain subject to the current zoning and planning regulations of the land.”

The 10-hole Albany Links course closed in January 2019 after the operator decided it was no longer financially viable.

At the time Moreton Bay City Council was unable to find a new operator and shut the course. The clubhouse has since been removed.
