New hospitals taking shape - fast
Three new hospitals and the massive redevelopment of a fourth are due for completion in this region over the next 18 months.
Development approval also remains for the construction of a fifth health facility - a new emergency care clinic and day hospital.
Work is well underway in Kallangur, (pictured above), Bribie and Caboolture on new hospitals as part of the State Government’s Satellite Hospital program.
A Queensland Health spokesperson said the Kallangur Satellite Hospital is due to be completed and open later this year.

“Construction is progressing with the main building structure and external car parking now complete,” the spokesperson said.
The 1.5-hectare site is at 159-163 Dohles Rocks Rd, within the Priority Development Area which includes the new university, part of Petrie and Millovate area.
Caboolture Satellite Hospital is also on track to be completed and open later this year.
The Queensland Health spokesperson said: “Construction is on schedule, with the main building now complete and internal fit-out works are underway.”

On 1.5 hectares, the Caboolture hospital is at 15 Rowe St, by the new Orion on Rowe development.
While construction of the Bribie Island Satellite Hospital is progressing, selection and preparation of the site have been more challenging.
The spokesperson said: “Major earthworks to prepare the site are now complete and the main building works will commence shortly.
“Construction of the facility is due for completion in the first half of next year and it is expected to open in mid-2024.”

The hospital is at 65-101 First Avenue, Bongaree and on a slightly bigger 1.6-hectare block.
Other satellite hospitals are also being built at Eight Mile Plains, Redlands, Ripley and Tugun with similar time frames and land requirements.
When the first sod was turned at Caboolture, Health Minister Yvette D’Ath, said: “Our program is an Australian first that will improve healthcare, supporting jobs in construction and health jobs when they’re open,” she said.
The four-year redevelopment of Caboolture Hospital will also be nearing completion by mid next year.

Work on the huge $399 million project passed the halfway mark last year with facades and screening among the most recent activities.
When finished there will be a new Clinical Services Building, 130 new beds, expanded services, a multi-storey car park and refurbished areas.
The Vaid Family Trust was given approval in 2020 for an emergency care health clinic and day hospital in Bongaree Ave on Bribie Island.
Plans, which at the time received enthusiastic support from residents, also included 78 aged care units and community facilities.
