School seizes RARE opportunity

Caboolture State School has grabbed a RARE opportunity to help schools in developing communities.

RARE (Rotary Australia Repurposing Equipment) repurposes equipment no longer needed giving potential landfill a new lease of life.

Medical and educational equipment features prominently in the program.

Caboolture State School Business Manager, Paula Connolly, contacted the Rotary Club of Caboolture offering unwanted furniture for redistribution.

The offer was accepted and RARE had furniture on its way to the Solomon Islands within a fortnight. The rest will soon go to other locations.

This thoughtful offer will provide desks and chairs for children who would otherwise sit and work on earth floors.

Caboolture Rotarian Leon Misfeld said while Rotary and RARE have set-up a program, it depends on those, such as Caboolture State School, prepared to make an extra effort.

The school’s Officer Andrew Elton said the school community was pleased to help and added: “Reusing beats trashing any day!”
