Settlement Cove Lagoon temporarily closed for essential maintenance
Update Thursday 8 Jan: The lagoon is now reopened after temporary closure.
Settlement Cove Lagoon is currently closed for essential maintenance, the City of Moreton Bay announced in a social media post earlier today (Tuesday, 6 January).
The popular lagoon, a favourite destination for families and visitors to cool off during the summer months, will remain closed until further notice as Council carries out necessary works.
Council posted that it appreciates the community’s patience while the maintenance is underway. At this stage, no reopening date has been announced.
Moreton Daily has contacted the City of Moreton Bay for details on the reason for the closure and the expected timeline for the lagoon to reopen. We will update the community as soon as we receive further information.
Where to swim nearby
While Settlement Cove Lagoon is out of action, there are other local options for those looking to cool down:
Redcliffe War Memorial Pool - Suitable for lap swimming and recreational use.
Free splash pads at Newport and Petrie - Ideal for younger children during the school holidays.
Other aquatic centres across the City offer a mix of leisure pools, shaded areas and kids’ play spaces - information is available on the Council’s website.
Council also reminds the community to swim to your abilities, supervise children at all times, and follow lifeguard instructions at all aquatic facilities.
