Snappies power way to gold

Redcliffe Pink Snapdragons struck gold by less than a second on the waters of Kawana on Sunday.

The team of breast cancer survivors and supporters took the 200m BCS event by just half a second from MBT Black 1.

Snappies crossed the finishing line in 1 minute 4.34 seconds with MBT Black close behind in 1:04.87 at Lake Kawana.

There was a “special shout-out” to Kristina for her first regatta and Kristian and Kim for stepping up as first-time drummers.

Snappies also gave voluntary help to sister club Redcliffe Red Dragons, which staged the competition on the Sunshine Coast.

A free Come and Try Day is being held by Redcliffe Pine Snapdragons early next month for anyone touched by breast cancer.

It will be at the Snappies clubhouse in Talobilla Park, Kippa-Ring, on Saturday September 6 from 9am.

All equipment will be provided, participants should wear workout clothing and water shoes (or shoers that can get wet) and bring a water bottle.

Morning tea will be held after the event.
