On the run to help hospital

Moreton Bay Road Runners (MBRR) are using their final hit out before the Jetty 2 Jetty (J2J) to support the annual Redcliffe Hospital Fun Run/Walk.

MBRR have opened up their last full-distance race preparation on June 20 to those who make a donation to the hospital fundraiser, being held on the same day.

“It made sense to link them both together,” said Andy Almond, who sits on the MBRR committee as overseer of the J2J.

“We’ll use whatever course the fun run is using and our only criteria is runners make a donation to the hospital fundraising.”

Runners set pace

MBRR will have 10km and 21km runs with club pacesetters enabling runners to test their preparations for the J2J on July 18 over the same course.

All donations from the June fun run go to Raise it for Redcliffe, a partnership between the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital (RBWH) Foundation and Redcliffe Hospital.

Raise it for Redcliffe supports Redcliffe Hospital’s patient care, research, staff wellbeing and education programs.

Funds raised last year were used for The Maternity Bereavement Room, a shade sail for kitchen staff and went towards incentives programs for the Wellness Program.

Jetty to Jetty

The Jetty to Jetty Fun Run is on Sunday July 18 with races over 3km, 5km, 10km and half marathon distances along the Redcliffe Foreshore starting from Pelican Park.
