Tavern upgrade plans unveiled

A Moreton Bay tavern will be renovated and upgraded, if plans are given the green light.

The proposal, lodged with Moreton Bay City Council, includes modernising the façade and internal dining areas of Central Tavern in Burpengary.

A report with the development application says reconfiguring the tavern’s layout will “improve the efficiency and functionality of internal spaces”.

The changes, which would increase the North Shore Dr tavern’s floor area to more than 10000sqm, include enclosing the outdoor dining area.

Landscaping will be part of the façade and main entry upgrade while car parking will be reduced by three spaces to 56.

PWD parking spaces will be relocated and five bicycle spaces added to “encourage active transport options for patrons and staff”.

The latter will bring the tavern’s PWD and bicycle provisions “in line with the current planning scheme”.

There are no plans to change the current hours of operation at Central Tavern.
