Tennis club site back on market

The site of a former Moreton Bay tennis centre is up for sale – a year after approval was given for a retirement village.

Plans for 97-units at 56 Coman St South, Rothwell – home to Frawleys Tennis Club until 2017 – were given a green light in July 2024.

But expressions of interest are now being sought for the 9825sqm block by Sam Biggins and Clem Stack of Knight Frank.

Mr Biggins is expecting strong interest as it has retirement living development approval in a market with a significant undersupply of residential accommodation”.

He said with a large portion of the population entering retirement age, it “underpinned demand for additional senior living and social housing accommodation in the area”.

“Zoned specialised centre under the Moreton Bay Regional Plan, alternative uses may also include a medical centre development, quick service retail or similar low-intensity commercial uses, subject to council approval,” Mr Biggins says.

The development approval by Moreton Bay City Council is for 63 two-bedroom, 21 three-bedroom and 13 one-bedroom units.

Construction would be up to three storeys high, with 147 car parking spaces.
