Top student wins prestigious scholarship

Consistently getting top grades in all her classes has helped Jamie-Lee from Bribie Island State High School take home a prestigious scholarship worth $20,000.

The Year 9 student went through a rigorous application process to be in the running for the Harding Miller Education Foundation Scholarship.

The scholarship recognises students in public schools who have high academic potential.

Bribie Island State High School Acting Principal Sharon Cordiner said Jamie-Lee was deserving of this award.

“Jamie-Lee is an outstanding kid and is a real asset to our school,” she said.

“She virtually gets straight A’s in every subject, and is studying digital technologies and food specialisations, in addition to the core subjects of English, maths, history and science.

“Her passion project is mural making so she also has a strong interest in artwork.

“She will have a very bright future, and we can’t wait to see where she will go."

Setting up her future

The scholarship entitles Jamie-Lee to a high-quality laptop in the first year, as well as four years of online IT support, high speed internet, $2500 worth of online or face-to-face tutoring, online homework help and prepaid expense cards for essential school needs such as uniforms, textbooks and school excursions.

Jamie-Lee will attend a special awards ceremony next term with students from other schools who have also received the same scholarship.
