Tropical Cyclone Alfred: Help hubs open
Moreton Bay region will have three of the major Community Recovery Hubs set up by the State Government to help those impacted by Tropical Cyclone Alfred.
Hubs at Albany Creek Community Centre in Ernie St and Webb Hall at Redcliffe Showgrounds off Scarborough St, are now open to help those in need after days of wild weather.
Morayfield Community Recovery Hub will open tomorrow at Morayfield Community Hall, 298 Morayfield Road.
Hubs will open 9am-4pm daily for residents experiencing hardship to access services and apply for grants, information and get emotional and wellbeing support.
Minister for Families, Seniors and Disability Services Amanda Camm said the aim is to ensure no daylight between response and recovery.
“We know this is an incredibly challenging and distressing time for many, and that’s why we have quickly mobilised the recovery hubs to provide face-to-face support,” Minister Camm said.
“This includes access to Emergency Hardship Assistance grants for eligible Queenslanders, of $180 per person and up to $900 for a family of five or more, to help cover the costs of food, medication, clothing and other essential items.”
A range of other personal hardship assistance grants are also available.
Minister for Disaster Recovery Ann Leahy said: “We will continue to be as responsive as possible to the needs of communities impacted by ex-Tropical Cyclone Alfred.”
