Units plan for club site

Development plans for a 7500sqm block, which was home to a Moreton Bay bowls and community club, have been revealed.

An application had been lodged with Moreton Bay City Council for 42 townhouses in the former Deception Bay Club site in Bayview Terrace.

Proposals, available on Council’s website, show an entrance from Bailey Road to 13 two-bedroom units and 29 three-bed units

All would have living and dinging rooms on the ground floor, bedrooms on the second level and private outdoor spaces.

The development application (DA) includes a central swimming pool, 80 car parking spaces and no garaging facing the street

In May, Moreton Bay City Councillors approved an earlier DA for The Deception Bay Club land to be rezoned for residential use.

At the time, Cr Sandra Ruck (Div 5) said supporting the application “will contribute to housing supply and diversity within Deception Bay area”.

Deception Bays Bowl Club was on the site from the mid-1970s until hitting financial difficulties in 2015.

It then became The Deception Bay Club - a not-for-profit run by volunteers for community groups, for such as darts and gateball.
