Upgrades finished on key road
Beachmere Road has now fully reopened after the completion of year-long upgrades costing $20.75 million.
The improvements, which started in August last year, included road and shoulder widening, wide centre line treatments, intersection upgrades and resurfacing.
There are also dedicated right-hand turn lanes for eastbound vehicles at Riversleigh Rd and Montys Marina.
Vehicles will now have extra room to pass cyclists and the widened road will reduce the risk of crashes.
“The half-completed works were severely damaged in the February floods, so it’s a credit to the project team that the work was completed this year,” State Member for Pumicestone Ali King said.
Transport Minister Bart Mellish added: “We acknowledge roadworks can be disruptive and I thank the community and motorists for their patience while we delivered these vital upgrades.”
