Work starts on new parking

Early work is now underway to upgrade and expand the Narangba station park ‘n’ ride facility.

The expansion will see an additional 100 car parking spaces, increasing the size of the parking area to around 380 spaces.

Features of the expansion include:

  • Installing four new accessible parking spaces
  • Installing six new motorcycle parking spaces
  • Building a new access off Main Street, including a dedicated left turn lane
  • New lighting and CCTV within the carpark to improve visibility and security
  • A new pedestrian pathway to improve connectivity to and from the station

Work is now setting the site, with fencing, earthworks, drainage and site access. Main construction will follow next year.

The new car parks will be built on vacant rail corridor land on Main Street, to the north-west of the station.

“We know how important these facilities are for those who depend on easy and efficient public transport journeys, whether commuting to work, traveling to an appointment or visiting friends and family,” Minister for Transport and Main Roads Brent Mickelberg said.

“This project directly addresses the community’s need for more train station parking due to the strong growth and increased public transport patronage in the region.”

The project is being delivered by the Department of Transport and Main Roads on behalf of Queensland Rail.
