Work underway on flood-hit hall

Renovation work will start soon at Mango Hill Community Hall, after it was inundated by water in the flood in late February.

Moreton Bay Regional Council has already removed damaged material from the building, which is not currently available for use.

However, a meeting is planned next week with Mango Hill Progress Association (MHPA) which oversees the operation of the hall.

President Laurence Christie said there were hopes the hall would reopen in time MHPA's June 16 meeting.

New hall site

The tennis court and basketball court, which were covered in mud by the flood, reopened within days and are not affected by the hall closure.

There is also discussion about a new site, within Mango Hill Village, for a hall following the second major flood of the Chermside Rd site in seven years.

Indications are the project is being considered for Council’s Capital Works programs in future years.

The new section of Chelmsford Rd, linking to the roundabout by Lamington Rd, is almost complete and could open soon.
