Staff are putting the finishing touches to YMCA Queensland's new op shop in Strathpine, which officially opens on Saturday.

Y Strathpine Op Shop, described as a “new venture in supportable sustainable living”, is at 130 Gympie Rd, between Officeworks and Pine Rivers Art Gallery.

The soft launch begins today (Thursday) with an official launch on Saturday, when there will be 30 per cent off all items and a sausage sizzle 9am-4pm.

The YMCA, which has been operating in this state for almost 160 years, also has Y op shops on Halpine Dr, Mango Hill and in Mt Gravatt.

By offering quality, second-hand goods, the organisation helps reduce waste and supports environmentally friendly practices.

Y Strathpine Store Supervisor Emma Sanders started as a volunteer in Mango Hill where her “focus on the customer experience and retail ability” stood out.

Our Strathpine store has a unique blend of items, ranging from everyday living essentials to vintage/retro collectibles,” she says.

“Whether you're searching for practical items or unique treasures, our op shop has something for everyone.”

“All surplus funds raised through our op shops go to supporting our local life-changing programs including the Y Schools’ Breakfast Program and our Cancer Survivor Program,” he said.

The YMCA also welcomes volunteers who share the “passion for making a positive impact in the community”.
