Youngs Crossing Road lane closures
Temporary crash barriers along Youngs Crossing Rd at Joyner will be relocated closer to Dayboro Rd as part of works to upgrade the site where it crosses the North Pine River.
The upgrade will improve flood immunity, safety and vehicle carrying capacity.
Unitywater will move the crash barriers to progress the current sewer works between 7pm and 6am on August 28 and 29.
If there are delays, the work will be rescheduled to the following week, from Monday, September 2.
Traffic flow
For motorist and contractor safety a half lane closure will operate during construction under the supervision of traffic controllers, allowing for one-way reversible flow.
While traffic will still be allowed in both directions along Youngs Crossing Rd, minor delays may occur.
The upgrade to Youngs Crossing is now in the final stage of the construction procurement process.
The tender for new bridge and associated road works has been released to the short-list, with submissions closing in August.
It is anticipated the successful contractor will be appointed by the end of the year, with construction expected to start in early 2025.
The new Youngs Crossing bridge and road is due to be completed around September 2026, pending confirmation of the successful contractor’s construction plan.
