Youngsters embrace Harmony Week

Little learners at Sesame Lane Care and Kindergarten embraced the message of Harmony Week this week, wearing orange and taking part in activities to celebrate diversity.

This year’s theme for Harmony Week was ‘everyone belongs’. The celebration which runs from March 21-27 aims to engage people to participate in their community, respect cultural and religious diversity and foster a sense of belonging for everyone.

Sesame Lane employees and families signed a pledge to respect diversity and children took part in a range of activities including cooking multicultural food, enjoying an English tea party and holding a Holi festival of colours.

Educators from a culture with traditional dress wore it and spoke about their culture.

Children learned to say ‘good morning’ and ‘good afternoon’ in different languages and enjoyed multicultural books including stories from first nation’s people.
