Huge new hospital building opens
Caboolture Hospital’s new 13-bed Clinical Services building – part of a $399.5 million upgrade program – has been officially opened.
Minister for Health Shannon Fentiman and Deputy Premier Steven Miles, the State Member for Murrumba, unveiled the 130-bed, five-storey building.
The new building has an expanded Emergency Department, Palliative Care Unit, Intensive Care Unit, operating theatres and stage one recovery spaces.
It also has a Cardiac Care Unit, specialised Chest Pain Assessment Unit, two medical wards and space for a future 20-bed Rehabilitation Unit.
Caboolture Hospital’s redevelopment also includes a multi-storey carpark, which opened last month, and program to modernise spaces within the hospital.
“A much larger and innovative Emergency Department is expected to open in December, which will further increase capacity and provide additional care spaces,” Caboolture Hospital Acting Executive Director Adjunct Professor Alanna Geary.
“The targeted refurbishment of the existing hospital will start in early 2024 and include an expanded Special Care Nursery, New Medical Day Stay Unit, expanded medical records facility, plus expansions for pharmacy and pathology.”
At the opening, Deputy Premier Steven Miles said the fast-growing City of Moreton Bay needed free health care services that “keep pace” with its needs.
“The planned community of Warraba in Caboolture West will be home to 70,000 people. This hospital expansion will ensure they have access to tertiary health care close to home,” he said.

Minister for Health, Mental Health and Ambulance Services Shannon Fentiman said the Clinical Services Building was a “gamechanger”.
“A new Palliative Care Unit and Geriatric Evaluation and Management Unit will provide increased access to services right here in Caboolture, supporting some of our most complex patient cohorts closer to home.,” she said.
“Our existing workforce will be joined by new staff, with 283 full-time equivalent positions across a range of services to support the care needs of this growing community.
State Member for Morayfield Mark Ryan said the new Clinical Services building was an “amazing facility” and Member for Pumicestone Ali King said it would deliver “world class health care”.
