Apartments planned on bayside block

Plans have been lodged for a new seven-storey residential development metres from the waterfront at Deception Bay.

An application has been submitted to Moreton Bay Regional Council for 108 units on a 4786sqm block, behind houses on Captain Cook Pde, Wallin Ave and Summer St.

It would be on 5 and 7 Wallin Ave and 7 Captain Cook Pde, where the Mud Café used to be.

The development's apartments would have six with one-bedroom, 50 with two bedrooms, 43 with three bedrooms, eight with four-bedrooms and one with five-bedrooms.

There would be vehicle access from Wallin Ave. Pedestrian access would be from Captain Cook Pde, Wallin Ave and Summer St.

The development application says it is “intended for owner occupiers, in particular, empty nesters and downsizers”.

It has been “architecturally designed to reflect and enhance the coastal nature of the site” and “promotes a subtropical lifestyle through large windows, subtropical landscaping and large outdoor living areas and balconies”.
