Beachmere Road upgrades start

Upgrades to make Beachmere Rd safer have started, aiming to reduce the risk of serious accidents at the intersection.

The State Government is spending $15.275 million to improve safety at busy intersections on Beachmere Rd.

The roadworks will include widening Beachmere Rd to nine metres with one-metre line shoulders; resurfacing from Egan Ave to Jocelyn St; and creating dedicated turning lanes for the Riversleigh Rd intersection and at Monty’s Marina.

State Member for Pumicestone Ali King says the project should significantly reduce the risk of head-on collisions.

“Beachmere locals told me their road needed upgrading, so I worked hard to get funding doubled for a full start to finish upgrade,” Ms King says.

“These upgrades will mean a smoother, safer drive home for the Beachmere community.

“I’m grateful to our community for their patience during the construction period.”

The upgrades are expected to be finished by the end of 2023.
