From early morning coffees to evening cocktails by the water, Sidonié Newport is expanding beyond its café roots with a brand-new all-day dining experience.
The family-owned venue is now open seven days a week from 6am to 8.30pm, launching new breakfast, lunch and dinner menus alongside an expanded bar offering as Newport’s growing community continues to embrace the waterfront destination.
General Manager Ethan Newcombe says the goal was to create a venue locals could enjoy at any time of day.
“We live literally around the corner, so this community is incredibly important to us,” Ethan says.
“We didn’t want there to be downtime where the venue felt closed off to people,” Ethan says.
“The idea was to build on the atmosphere Sidonié already had and extend that through the entire day, whether that’s breakfast, lunch, an afternoon business meeting or drinks with a group.
The new menu reflects that evolution, with Ethan saying the Traditional English Breakfast has quickly become one of the venue’s biggest hits, particularly among the British expat community.
“It’s basically a proper British big brekky and people have absolutely loved it,” he says.
“We’ve had people travelling from North Lakes and other surrounding areas just to come and try it.”
Ethan says the venue’s signature toasties have also become early standouts on the menu.
“The Roast Turkey Dinner Toastie definitely raises a few eyebrows because it’s literally a classic roast turkey dinner with stuffing, gravy, cranberry jelly and everything, on thick white bread,” he says.
“But once people try it, we’ve had rave reviews.”
From Café to Waterfront Bar
As the day rolls into the evening, Sidonié shifts into a more relaxed waterfront bar and dining atmosphere, with tapas-style share plates, burgers and larger signature meals now featuring on the PM menu.
An extensive drinks offering has also been rolled out, including cocktails, local beers and a broad wine list designed to encourage locals to settle in and stay awhile by the water.
Sidonié is also continuing its popular high teas, alongside a cabinet filled daily with grab-and-go food, sweet treats and café favourites for locals stopping in throughout the day.
Ethan says the venue is already becoming a popular stop before Dolphins games, with supporters gathering for dinner and drinks before heading to the stadium.
“We’re getting a really strong presence before Dolphins games, with supporters stopping by for a drink or to grab dinner before heading into the game,” he says.
As Newport continues to grow, Ethan says the team hopes Sidonié continues growing alongside the community.
“We want people to feel like they can come here at any time of day, find a seat, grab something to eat or drink and just relax,” he says.
