Big W’s Giving Tree returns

Big W is partnering with Good360 Australia again this festive season to deliver its Giving Tree, which will help support families in need this year.

From now until Christmas Eve, Moreton Bay locals can place an unwrapped gift under the Giving Tree at their local Big W store; with the initiative supporting 177 stores nationwide.

In 2022, the Giving Tree initiative distributed more than 10,000 gifts nationwide, with popular donations, including toys, books, games, stationary and puzzles.

This year, the Giving Tree will support 106 organisations in Australia, including women’s shelters, youth centres, homeless shelters and children’s hospitals.

Big W’s Managing Director Dan Hake says the goal is to help as many families as possible this festive season.

“We know it has been a challenging year for many Aussie families and our Giving Tree is a way for our BIG W store teams, customers and local charity partners to come together and support people in the community who need it most,” Dan says.

“Our goal is to help as many families as possible experience the joy and spirit of Christmas this year.

“With many households finding it tough, we want our customers to know that even the smallest gift can still make a big difference.”

Big W’s charity partner, Good360 Australia has been partnering with the retail chain since 2017, helping match surplus goods to distribute to local families in need, essential goods to disaster-affected communities and special gifts for vulnerable people.

Good360 Australia Founder and Managing Director Alison Covington says Christmas can be an incredibly difficult time for many people.

“Christmas is a special time for families, but for those facing hardship it can be incredibly stressful. For the most vulnerable members of our communities, the joy of Christmas can feel out of reach,” Alison says.

“We know that many Australians are struggling this year, but we are grateful for the generosity of people who are in a position to give, extending their giving list to one extra person in need.”

Big W is also supporting five children’s hospitals around the country this year by selling $2 tokens. In Queensland, Big W will be raising money for the Children’s Hospital Foundation.

There are many ways you can give back this year to help a family in need.
