Boat ramp reopens after facelift

Bribie Island’s Bellara (South) boat ramp has reopened, with upgrades to the new-look ramp now finished.

Member for Pumicestone Ali King says the $660,000 upgrade started in mid-July.

“Work was scheduled around the busy school holiday period, meaning we’re now able to open the ramp in time for the September holidays,” Ms King says.

"The popular ramp has undergone a full resurface, bringing it up to current standards.

"The project included lengthening and adjusting the slope of the ramp to allow for easier launch and retrieval of vessels.

“It comes as part of the Palaszczuk Government’s more than $1.1 billion investment in road and transport infrastructure projects across Moreton Bay over the next four years.”

Ms King thanked local boaties for their patience during the works, as well as local contractor Australian Marine and Civil for completing the work quickly and within budget.

The upgraded boat ramp opened to the public on Monday, September 5.

The upgrade was funded by the Maritime Safety Queensland's $185 million Maritime Infrastructure Investment Program.
