Bribie Island public transport study

Bribie Island residents will soon have the chance to give direct feedback on public transport on and around the island, as the Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) investigates community connectivity.

State Member for Pumicestone Ali King says she has secured $400,000 in the 2022-23 Budget for the study.

“Our community on and around Bribie told me they need better public transport services, so I worked hard to get this study,” Ms King says.

“We’re experiencing unprecedented growth so the State Government, stakeholders and the community will work together to find solutions and create a plan to improve local transport.

“This is an opportunity for you to have a say in the future of transport on our island and surrounding communities.

“We’ll be asking how you get from A to B, when and why, as well as what could work better, so we can design the best possible services.

"Once we understand community needs, we can also plan alongside Moreton Bay Regional Council to create greater connectivity between Pumicestone communities and the Brisbane CBD."

The study will involve extensive community consultation to ensure community needs and preferences are considered.

TMR will advise the community on how they can participate in the study by late 2022.
