Classic cars and sprints in memory of Sen-Constable Dave Masters

LAKESIDE Raceway hosted a fundraiser on February 4 for the family of Senior Constable David Masters and not-for-profit charity Blue Hope.

Senior Constable Masters was killed in June last year while deploying road spikes on the Bruce Highway at Burpengary.

Sen-Constable Masters was based at Deception Bay Police Station and left behind a widow and son.

Funds will also go to Blue Hope, an organisation supporting police officers with mental health problems.

About 100 vehicles, including Mad Max cars and Ferraris, attended the private event, doing laps and a timed sprint.

The event was dubbed Bronze by the Lake – Bronze being the name police are referred to in the Mad Max films.

It is hoped it will become an annual event supporting different causes, with Blue Hope being the mainstay each year.
