Community to march in solidarity to eradicate domestic violence
Hundreds of Moreton Bay residents are expected to walk in solidarity as part of the 14th annual Moreton Bay Says No to Violence event next month.
Community members from businesses, schools and churches, as well as local officials, will attend the peaceful march along Redcliffe Parade on Friday, October 14.
Encircle CEO Chris Staines said the march is the not-for-profit’s flagship event, bringing the community together to stamp out violence.
“This is a peaceful march about raising awareness and raising voices to one day eradicate family and domestic violence from our community,” he said.
“We work with vulnerable community members every day and we ant them to know we stand with them, and we stand for them.
“There is strength in numbers, and this year we encourage the whole community to join us in the strongest display yet of zero tolerance.”
The march takes place six months after the Queensland Government announced in May it would implement all 89 recommendations of its Women’s Safety and Justice Taskforce including criminalising coercive control.

The march will be held on Friday, October 14.
People are encouraged to arrive at Rotary Park, 186 Redcliffe Parade, at 8.30am for a 9am step off.
The march will finish at the Redcliffe Settlement Cove Ampitheatre, with the event to conclude at 11am.
