Coolest ticket in town

The region’s newest playground will officially open on Saturday with a free community event at The Mill at Moreton Bay Play Space in Petrie.

From 4-8pm children can try out the new adventure play zone and water playground which has fountains and a large water bucket, oval kick-around space and amphitheatre.

Free sporting activities will be on the new oval, backyard games on the amphitheatre lawn and local performers on stage.

Food trucks will be there, including woodfired pizzas, doughnuts and ice cream and a chance to win prize packs from the University of the Sunshine Coast (USC) and Moreton Bay Regional Council.

A cricket pitch and oval have also been refurbished, there are new barbecues, picnic shelters, parking and an amenities building.

The official event opening will comply with a COVID Safe Event Checklist and for safety reasons will have a limited capacity. Numbers will be capped at 1500.

Those planning to visit are reminded that if you are feeling unwell, stay at home and follow health advice.

Work has also been completed on upgrading Wyllie Park, opposite the new university site with new parking, pathways and landscaping.
