Cooper targets second title belt

Brooke Cooper, the world-ranked Burpengary boxer nicknamed Psycho, has another title in her sights.
The 23-year-old, from Kaos Martial Arts in Morayfield, will be back in the ring on July 15 chasing the WBC Australasian Lightweight belt.
It comes just days after Cooper returned to Australia after a stunning victory in Thailand with the Australian Infliction muay thai team.
The former Narangba Valley State High School student stopped Yodying in the opening round of their bout at the Lumpinee Boxing Stadium, Bangkok.
Cooper switched to the martial art - using fists, elbows, knees and shins - to reach a landmark in her career which has already seen two muay thai world titles.
“I wanted to take the opportunity to have my 40th fight in Thailand,” she said, “I did a lot of hard work (before the fight) and was hoping for a good performance.”
But, it is now back to the “fists only” code in preparation for her, as yet unnamed, opponent at Tallebudgera Leisure Centre, on an Infliction show next month.
It will be Cooper’s fourth fight. She already has the WBC Australasian Super Lightweight belt and is in the world's top 50 female lightweights.
Now she wants the WBC Australasian Lightweight crown at the second attempt.
Cooper's first bid was on her boxing debut last year when she lost on points to titleholder Deanha Hobbs, who has vacated the belt and stepped up a weight.
“I want to be as busy as I need to be, but not just fighting, fighting, fighting for the sake of it,” Cooper said.
“I am looking for quality opponents to give me the credibility in this sport and perhaps go overseas (to fight) by the end of the year.”
