COVID-19 update: August 23

Food distribution centre and meat processing workers will be prioritised for COVID-19 vaccination as Queensland records two new cases - one in home quarantine linked to the Indooroopilly cluster and the other in hotel quarantine.

Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk says adding meat processors and distribution centre workers to category 1B for vaccination will ensure continuity of the state's supply chains.

She says vaccination hubs will open at food distribution centres and meat plants once another 100,000 doses of vaccine from the Federal Government arrive.

Ms Palaszczuk says she is very concerned about the increasing number of cases in NSW and Victoria.

"My greatest fear is that either coming in through our airport or coming in across the boarder someone is going to come in with COVID," she says.

"We are very concerned that there could be another outbreak any day."
