Crafters market supports local artisans and potters

The Old Redcliffe Fire Station Gallery and its grounds will provide the backdrop for a handcrafters and makers market this Saturday.

Moreton Bay Arts Council president Janice Charlish says the Redcliffe Pottery Group and the Redcliffe Art Society will join forces to host the event.

Janice says MBAC has been overwhelmed by support from would-be stall holders, who are thrilled to have an avenue to showcase their wares.

Gallery shop open too

“It will be a wonderful opportunity for local crafters to be able to get together again,” Janice says.

She says the market will fill the grounds of the gallery, taking advantage of the shady trees, and the gallery shop will be open to visitors as well.

The market will play host to 30 stalls and 20 crafters’ tables and the venue’s pottery and art studios will be open for viewing.

Stalls include jewellery, bags, potted plants, resin and wood art, mosaics, candles, cards, pottery and soft toys.

Foodies catered for

Foodies will be spoilt for choice, with homemade fudge, Italian pastries, a sausage sizzle, sandwiches, coffee and iced tea.

Janice says shaded seating, wheelchair access and dog-friendly grounds will add to the appeal.

Master pastellist Tricia Taylor’s exhibition, Capturing the Light is on inside the gallery, with originals available for purchase.

The market day is on March 27, 10am-2pm at the Old Fire Station Gallery, 395 Oxley Ave, Redcliffe.
