Date set for last burgers at Beardy's current home

Iconic Kippa-Ring burger outlet Beardy’s Bar and Kitchen will serve its last feast in its current location on July 10.

Owners Lee and Ross Willson found out in May Beardy’s would have to move, after the property’s owners filed a development application for the Elizabeth Ave site they’ve called home for the past five years.

They were to have left by June 1, but the date was extended to July 1 and now to July 15 as the development application moved through Moreton Bay Regional Council.

On February 7, Town Planning Alliance lodged a development application with Council for 403 and 405-407 Elizabeth Ave, Kippa-Ring on behalf of OneFin Kippa-Ring Pty Ltd.

The application is for a two into three lot subdivision, while supporting documents show plans for two fast food outlets, as well as converting an existing building into a gymnasium.

Planning final weekend

Lee says he and Ross hope to make an announcement about a new location for the beloved burger joint soon but in the meantime they’re planning for their final weekend on Elizabeth Ave.

“Our last trading day will be on the 10th of July because we have to be out by the 15th,” Lee explains.

|“It’ll be a big weekend - we’ve asked some of our old musos to come down and play.|

“We might even sell off some of the things we don’t want to take with us – a mini garage sale.”

Lee’s keeping details of a new location under wraps until the deal is finalised.

All he’ll reveal is “the idea is to try to stay on the Peninsula and that’s what we’ve been working on”.

The Willsons hope to be able to let loyal customers know the location of new digs on their final weekend in the current location, if not sooner.
