Dolphins lock in premiership-winning duo

Kenny Bromwich will unite with his brother Jesse on the Dolphins’ inaugural NRL roster after agreeing to a three-year contact.

It comes just 10 days after his older brother agreed to join the newest NRL franchise when preseason training begins in November.

The Bromwich brothers will join the new team with current Melbourne Storm teammate Felise Kaufusi, who became the Dolphins’ inaugural signing late last year.

The trio of acquisitions means the Dolphins’ roster will contain at least three premiership winners when it takes the field in 2023.

Dolphins’ chief executive Terry Reader said the new franchise was building strategically for their entry to the 2023 NRL competition.

“Kenny Bromwich is yet another player that has all the qualities we are looking for – experience, ability, toughness and a track record of winning,” said Reader.

“Clearly we have placed some real importance on ensuring we have some reliable and experienced players on our roster for the first season.

“Along with his brother Jesse, Felise and also our signing from the Rabbitohs Mark Nicholls, we know we are going to be starting pre-season training with some real leadership in our squad.”

Kenny Bromwich is a two-time premiership winner after playing in both the 2017 and 2020 grand finals for the Storm.

He has played 192 NRL matches since making his NRL debut in 2013 and was part of the Storm’s victorious World Club Challenge team that destroyed Leeds 38-4 in 2018.

Kenny also played in the Storm’s losing grand finals of 2016 and 2018.

He has represented the New Zealand Kiwis in 10 Tests, including playing for the country of his birth at the 2017 World Cup.
