Enjoy Movie in the Park Griffin

Experience a night of fun, family friendly entertainment at Movie in the Park Griffin with a free movie screening of Sing 2 (PG) on Saturday, September 9.

Pack picnic rugs and chairs and enjoy an evening under the stars at Griffin State School from 5-8pm.

There will be movie treats available, with popcorn and fairy floss for sale.

Make sure you also pop in and grab a sausage sandwich from the Ausbuild community barbecue, which will be raising money for the Griffin Blokes Society.

Local food trucks will also be on hand to serve up scrumptious eats and coffee.

If your little ones love getting their faces painted, there’s good news - free face painting will feature at the event. Arrive early to squeeze this in before the movie starts.

Sing 2 starts about 6pm, so ensure you have reserved a spot in front of the screen and set up early to allow time to grab movie snacks before the show starts.

The film follows can-do koala Buster Moon and his all-star cast of animal performers as they prepare to launch a dazzling stage extravaganza in the glittering entertainment capital of the world.

However, there's just one catch - Buster Moon has to find and persuade the world's most reclusive rock star, Clay Calloway, to join them.

Closed captions will feature on the screen during the film.

Movie in the Park Griffin is the perfect event for movie lovers of all ages and offers an opportunity for the community to come together and enjoy a free movie in the great outdoors.

Movie in the Park Griffin is proudly presented by Moreton Bay Regional Council and delivered by Moreton Bay Region Industry and Tourism (MBRIT).

Big calendar of events

Mayor Peter Flannery says Council is proud to deliver a record number of free community events across the city, with one of the family favourites being the Movie in the Park events.

“Providing free entertainment, at a time when so many are doing it tough, is something Council is committed to because we know it’s one of the first things to go when people tighten their belts,” Mayor Flannery says.

“These events bring our community together and offer a free and fun-filled night out for young and old.”

Councillor Jodie Shipway (Div 4) says: “Enjoy an evening under the stars with family and friends as Griffin State School’s oval is transformed into an outdoor cinema that’s completely free on Saturday, September 9 from 6pm.

“Make sure you get there a little bit earlier to stock up on movie snacks as there will be plenty of treats from popcorn to fairy floss and even a community fundraising barbecue.

“And don’t forget to pack your picnic rug, chair and blankets for this fun-filled, outdoor family experience.”
