Funding for New Year fireworks
Rotary Club of Bribie Island has been awarded $10,000 per annum over the next three years for its New Year’s Eve event.
Funding from Moreton Bay City Council will support the annual “family-friendly celebrations” attended by thousands of people each year.
“As a Rotary Club, we take action to support our community through service, fundraising and outreach,” Rotary Club of Bribie Island Director of Events Lulu Drew said.
“The grant from Council allows us to deliver a fun, safe and family friendly event the whole family can enjoy.
“Our New Years Eve celebration brings together people of all ages and is something the locals and visitors look forward to each year.”
Mayor Peter Flannery said Council has “proudly supported” the Bribie Island New Year’s Eve event for several years.
'Fantastic outcome'
Council “recognises its significance in fostering community spirit and providing inclusive entertainment for residents and visitors alike”, he said.
“This is a fantastic outcome for the local community and Rotary Club with the event offering a vibrant mix of live music, food stalls, markets, and a fireworks display.”
Cr Brooke Savige (Div 1) said funding recognises “the incredible work of our local Rotary Club and the importance of community-led events that bring people together”.
“The Rotary Club of Bribie Island is a passionate group of 20 volunteers, all working together to deliver meaningful contributions to the local community,” she said.
Council will apply a three per cent increase to the multi-year grant to acknowledge the rising operational costs of community organisations.
