Glamour night for region's first disability ball

Preparations for the region’s first Disability Ball of its kind are coming on in Leaps & Bounds.

In fact, it was the team at Leaps & Bounds Disability Services, in Caboolture South, which came up with the idea.

They noticed few social platforms for adults with disabilities in the Moreton Bay Region and started planning the ball, which is on November 13.

“We found a lot of our adult customers we support once leaving school, didn't have many ways of meeting new people unless they were engaged in a community support service,” speech pathologist Sarah Montgomery said.

“Several of our families often said one of their only community engagements was coming to therapy.

“We want to run a community event where not only our families, but others in the community, can step outside their comfort zone and meet new people.

“We are hoping the ball will allow people to make new connects within the community and widen their social networks.”

Glamour will be the theme of the fun night with ball dresses and suits the order of the day.
