Grace seniors snap-up nine medals

Grace swimmers warmed up for the state titles with a host of impressive performances at the Brisbane Senior Short Course Championships over the weekend.

The Rothwell-based club had 11 senior swimmers in action and returned with three gold medals, two silver, four bronze and 22 top 10 places.

Max Cunningham won two Brisbane titles winning the 13 Year Boys’ 50m and 100m butterfly, taking silver in the 50m and 100m butterfly, bronze at 200m freestyle and 50m backstroke and making the top 10 in the 100m backstroke.

Alia Shaw also brought a Brisbane title back to the peninsula winning the 13 Year Girls’ 1500m gold, as well as top10 finishes in the 800m freestyle, 200m backstroke and freestyle.

Olivia Smith won a bronze medal in the 14 Year Girls’ 50m freestyle and had top 10 finishes in the 100m and 200m individual medley, 100m and 200m freestyle, 50m butterfly, 50m backstroke and 100m butterfly.

Samuel Baker won a bronze medal in the 14 Year Boys’ 400m at Brisbane Aquatic Centre, Chandler.

The Queensland Senior Short Course Championships are also at Brisbane Aquatic Centre on August 12-14.
