Have your say on vital road link

Community consultation has started for a study to create a 20-year vision to upgrade Dayboro Rd between Gympie Rd and Youngs Crossing Rd, Petrie.

Transport and Main Roads North Coast Regional Director Scott Whitaker said the Queensland Government recognised Dayboro Rd had committed $350,000 to the study.

"The study will consider the capacity of the road link, including intersections at Andrew Petrie Dr and Youngs Crossing Rd and future upgrades to alleviate congestion," Mr Whitaker said.

"With traffic volumes currently at an average of 16,000 vehicles per day, of which more than 1000 are heavy vehicles, it’s important we investigate possible upgrades early so we can plan for future demand.

Future plans

"There's also significant regional and local developments proposed for Moreton Bay, including the University of the Sunshine Coast Moreton Bay Campus, which are accelerating the need for greater road capacity."

Mr Whitaker encouraged the community to have their say about future development of the road. Submissions close on Friday.

"Community feedback is an important part of how we deliver transport infrastructure," he said.

"We want to hear from people about how they use the existing road, what the current issues are and what they think we should prioritise.

Friday deadline

"Members of the public can view the study area online and provide feedback.

"We will also work closely with Moreton Bay Regional Council to incorporate their project currently underway on Youngs Crossing Rd."

Submissions close on Friday November 5.
