Honouring officers who died on duty
National Police Remembrance Day will be marked with a special service in Burpengary today at 2pm.
St Eugene College, at 138 Station Rd, will host one of 39 services across the state to remember officers who died in the line of duty.
They range from services at the Queensland Police Memorial in the Botanic Gardens, Brisbane to events at all major centres in the Far North.
This will be the first National Police Remembrance Day since officers Rachel McCrow and Matthew Arnold were murdered last December.’
They were attending a routine missing person inquiry in the state’s south west when they were ambushed at a rural property.
A fundraiser for their families was held in Redcliffe three months after the tragedy.
Their names will be added to the National Police Memorial in Canberra today.

National Police Remembrance Day is now in its 35th year and pays respect to officers who have been killed since the 1864.
