Huge support for First Nations Cup

Hundreds of players and supporters turned out at North lakes for the 2022 First Nations Indigenous Football Cup.

More than 20 senior teams and eight youth sides took part in the three-day festival (November 3-5) at Kinsellas Sports Complex.

It was hosted by The Lakes FC - its last event before merging with North Lakes Mustangs and becoming North Lakes United.

The festival included a Welcome to Country by the Nunukul Yuggera Aboriginal Dancers Australia and official opening ceremony.

Director Damien Munday said the event "has become more than a football tournament, it’s been a people’s movement from the Indigenous communities, football fraternity and government.”
