Inverpine residents celebrate 25 years
Residents at Bolton Clarke’s Inverpine have celebrated the 25th anniversary of the retirement living community in Murrumba Downs.
Starting with 32 units in 1997, the community as grown over two decades to more than 150 units and a community centre.
Del Dickson has lived in the village for more than 16 years and says she has nothing but good memories, beginning with trips to see her family members in the village.
Residents' trip
“My brother-in-law was one of the organisers for the regular trips residents would take," Del said. "For one they were short on numbers, so he asked myself and husband if we would like to join.
“Keith, my husband, was never keen on the idea of moving into a retirement village but after that trip he was sold.
“We were on the waiting list for three and a half years, but it was lovely because we would come to barbeques and met everyone before we had even moved in.”
Milestone
Bolton Clarke Inverpine Retirement Village Manager Solie Cochrane says it was an important celebration for residents to enjoy such a significant milestone.
“Some of our residents have been residing at Inverpine since it was constructed so it was definitely an occasion to celebrate,” Solie said.
“The community at Inverpine is really social and are a bunch of people who make the most of life and that feeling becomes contagious.”
Cake to celebrate
Original residents Pip and Jack had the honour of cutting Inverpine's birthday cake on September 8.
Del’s fond memories span almost the lifespan of the community and she says it has always been just like a big family.
“I’m now 92 years old so I only do what I can but there is nowhere else I’d rather be living than here,” she said.
