Kick your Friday nights into gear with new car show starting at Kallangur

Some of the region’s flashiest cars and bikes will go on display for revheads to admire at a new monthly car show starting up next month.

Rohan James Robertson, the organiser of Cardi Gras, says the new show will be held on the first Friday of each month at the Kallangur Fair Shopping Centre from 5-9pm.

It will feature a wide range of vehicles from classic cars to Hot Rods and American Muscle.

With the first show being just before Father’s Day, Rohan says it’s a great way to kick the celebrations into gear.

“The kids should bring down dad and let him enjoy a fun night out looking at all these amazing cars,” Rohan says.

“Or, if he has his own amazing car, he should bring it on down for others to look at.”

Rohan says there is a lot of excitement from other car enthusiasts, who are keen to share their pride and joy with the wider community.

“I have been contacted by quite a lot of car clubs from the north side of Brisbane who are really excited about this new show,” Rohan says.

“They have told me they have events locked in for weekends, but nothing for Friday nights, so they are excited to go somewhere new.

“These car clubs have some amazing vehicles to show off. Depending on the night, you might get to see a 1950s Buick or a 1960s Chevy Bel Air.”

Several awards will also be handed out at each show, including best vehicle in show, best classic, best muscle, best club display and people’s choice award.

Rohan says there will also be food trucks and the café at the shopping centre also plans on staying open later to feed hungry tummies.

The Kallangur Fair Shopping Centre is located at 1473 Anzac Ave, Kallangur.

A show for a good cause

While it is free to attend Cardi Gras, it costs $10 those who would like to show off their wheels on the night.

Rohan says all money raised is donated to a charity that helps the homeless.

“We have partnered with an organisation called Streetheart They originally started in Kings Cross in Sydney 30 years ago but now they help Queenslanders. The daughter of one of the original members moved to Queensland and decided she wanted to help here,” Rohan says.

“Recently, they have been out helping people in the Lockyer Valley who were left homeless due to the floods.

“All the money raised from our car shows goes directly back into helping the homeless and those who need it most.”

Lots of events to attend

Rohan regularly hosts Cardi Gras events throughout South East Queensland including Pine Rivers, Gatton, Plainland, Walloon, Blackbutt and now Kallangur.
