Latest plans and pictures of new hotel

The Comiskey Group, based in the City of Moreton Bay, has released an update and more illustrations of its new $45 million hotel development.

Aura Hotel, 10 minutes south of Caloundra, is set to be the Sunshine Coast’s biggest music and hotel venue when it opens.

Described as “one-of-a-kind”, the Aura will be similar to the Comiskey Group’s Eatons Hill Hotel and Sandstone Point Hotel.

“We’ve had artists from Prince to Post Malone play at our venues, every genre, for every demographic,” director Rob Comiskey said.

“Aura Hotel will also see a revolving door of talent, bringing big acts closer to home for those residing on the coast.

“We are already thinking about the live music experience, meticulously planning the design of the live band room and world-class production.”

Aura will have a capacity of 2500. The Comiskey Group is expected to settle on the property later this year and hotel is likely to be complete by early 2026.

The hotel will include internal and alfresco dining areas, six bars across three levels, a gaming room and multiple function spaces.

“It’s going to be a beast!” Mr Comiskey said. “We’ve been making significant changes to the initial design concept over the last few months.

“For the first time we are sharing the new Mediterranean-look of the building.

“We shifted focus, basing the concept around thoughtfully-designed landscaping and bold architecture, adding more wow-factor from the façade and throughout.

“Most notably we decided to combine interesting textural elements and shapes to enhance the new Mediterranean aesthetic.”

The Comiskey Group has received development approval for a large holiday resort in Coochin Creek, by the 150-ha festival site Coochin Fields near Caloundra.
