Lions honour children of courage

The Lions Club of North Lakes Inc hosted its eighth Children of Courage Awards Ceremony at The Lakes College Hall on October 22.

The Club honoured five deserving children.

The purpose of the Children of Courage Awards is to recognise a special group of young Australians and their families.

Two children were acknowledged for their Outstanding Bravery in a very distressing family situation and two children received Sibling Recognition for supporting their siblings through difficult times. One young girl experienced difficult medical challenges.

The children received a certificate, medallion and a Lions care bear. A sponsor kindly donated a backpack to each child.

North Lakes Lions Club was grateful for the assistance of Kaelen Bartlett, a Children of Courage recipient from five years ago from The Lakes College, who was their ‘Tech Expert’ for the afternoon.

The recipients included Kai, nominated by Bounty Boulevard State School and sisters Niraiya and Deshaya, nominated by The Lakes College.
