March to celebrate centenary
Around 150 soldiers and officers will march through Redcliffe on Saturday to mark the centenary of the Royal Australian Corps of Signals.
It will also commemorate the 30th anniversary of the City of Moreton Bay granting Freedom of Entry to the Australian Army’s 1st Signal Regiment.
And highlight the special bond between the Enoggera-based regiment and the people of City of Moreton Bay.
“It will be an incredible honour to take part in the ‘Freedom of Entry’ march,” Regimental Sergeant Major 1st Signal Regiment, Warrant Officer Class One Jason Harvey.
“The Australian Army’s 1st Signal Regiment has a special bond with the people of Redcliffe, including the previously known Shire of Pine Rivers - now the City of Moreton Bay, going back 30 years.”
“This march will also have special significance because it is taking place on the 100th anniversary of the Royal Australian Corps of Signals.”
The Freedom of Entry march will start at 9.30am by the intersection of Anzac Ave and Redcliffe Parade.
It will go along Redcliffe Parade, west along Humpybong Esp, turn into Irene St and then head south on Oxley Ave, finishing at Redcliffe Hockey Club.
The march is expected to conclude at 10.30am.
