Masterplan for sports hub

A new master plan has been adopted for one of Moreton bay’s key sports centres- James Drysdale Reserve.

The long-term vision, shaped over several years working with local sports clubs, volunteer groups and community organisations, is for staged improvements across the 29ha reserve.

James Drysdale Reserve Master Plan will create space as the Hills District and Albany Creek continue to expand, provide a broader mix of sport and recreation while enhancing club facilities.

There will be a multi-level carpark, netball and multi-purpose courts, turf athletics track, hockey field, long jump/triple jump pit, multi-purpose field, play area, outdoor fitness, spectator seating, clubhouses for football and baseball and more junior baseball diamonds.

“We know sport and recreation hubs, like this one, are intergenerational, bringing the community together while supporting increasingly diverse health, wellbeing,” Mayor Peter Flannery said.

“They also foster a lifelong love of sport among our youngest athletes. That’s why we’ve developed a long-term plan to ensure James Drysdale Reserve provides opportunities.”

Cr Matt Constance (Div10) said “The James Drysdale Reserve Master Plan has also been designed to complement and enable broader precinct planning across the Hills District.

“This includes future works at nearby Leslie Patrick Park and the 303 Dawson Parade site, a key location for emerging community facility planning.”
