Mental health training to help young people
About 50 frontline workers including guidance officers, child protection officers and police in the Moreton Bay Region received youth mental health training last year.
Moreton District Crime Prevention Co-ordinator Sarah Grayson says the training, made possible through a mental health grant, aimed to better equip frontline workers for dealing with young people suffering from mental health issues.

Others trained across three courses held throughout the year included staff from Deception Bay Community Youth Programs and youth workers.
“I think it’s been a very tough two years for everyone, but especially young people, who rely on being able to hang out with their peers,” Sgt Grayson says.
“Lots of people are really passionate about helping our young people.”
Sgt Grayson says another course will run this year.
