Million reasons to celebrate
Lady luck has smiled on some Moreton Bay region residents and suburbs this year. Here’s where our top Lottery winnings have landed.
January-November figures from the Lottery Corporation show Moreton Bay had eight Division One wins worth more than $10.7 million.
That gave Moreton Bay fourth place in Queensland behind Gold Coast with 14, Mackay and Whitsundays 12, Wide Bay-Burnett and Far North Queensland 9.
Three new millionaires were created in Warner, Kallangur and Narangba after their numbers came up in Monday and Wednesday Gold Lotto draws.
Two more had seven-figure wins in the Weekday Windfall, but all were dwarfed by a 16-share syndicate from Caboolture which won almost $5 million.
In February their ticket, bought at The Local Caboolture South at Market Plaza, landed $4,907,068.89 in a Powerball draw.
“This is unreal” said a Bribie man after his Weekday Windall ticket, from Nextra Bribie Island, won $1m in July - joining an anonymous $1m winner from May.
A last-minute online ticket and unique number picking system worked for a Narangba mum in May as she collected a $1m Division One win.
In January a Warner man joked with his brother about being the mystery $1m Division One winner with a ticket from Nextra Warner – only to find out it was him!
A Kallangur mum said her heart skipped a beat when she had an unexpected $1m Division One win in February with a ticket from Kallangur Fair News.
Saturday Gold Lotto also produced a huge win for another Narangba woman who landed $620,369.07 with an online purchase.
A 10-share store syndicate also collected $181,151.40 in the Super 66 bought at TSG Griffin in October.
Moreton Bay region’s top Instant Scratch-Its wins from January-November totalled more than $670,000.
They included $250,000 wins for a woman in Dayboro (who bought her sister a car) and Murrumba Downs.
There was a $100,000 winner from Caboolture in August, a $25,000 in North Lakes the same month and $10,000 winners from Burpengary, Narangba, Bellmere and Bray Park.
From January-November this year there were 115 Division One wins in Queensland worth more than $477.5 million and creating 69 millionaires.
The biggest prize in this state this year was $100m for a Bulimba entry in February and Chermside entry in August.
