A Warner man who joked with his brother about being this week's mystery $1 million Gold Lotto winner, was shocked to find out, it was him!
The Moreton Bay resident held one of the two division one winning entries in Monday & Wednesday Gold Lotto draw 4357, drawn Wednesday.
The winning entry was not registered to a player card, so The Lott had no way of notifying the winner they were the state's newest millionnaire.
A post on social media prompted the Queenslander to check his ticket.
“I’m in shock. I don’t even know where to start,” he laughed.
“I bought the Monday & Wednesday Gold Lotto ticket with my daughter on Wednesday, and she said to me, ‘No one ever wins on these things, Dad!’.
“I said to her, ‘Well someone must win! You have to be in it to win it.”.
“I got sent a screenshot of a Facebook post from our local community group by my brother.
“I sent him a message back and said, ‘Wouldn’t it be funny if it was me?’.
“I decided to check the ticket after our conversion and the million-dollar win came up on my phone.
“I couldn’t believe it. I think I’ve scanned it for a total of 17 times today.
“Thank you so much.”
When asked how 2024 might unfold with a million-dollar win under his belt, the doting dad shared he was too stunned to make any immediate concrete plans.
“I’m honestly not too sure. We do have a holiday coming up and this will definitely boost our plans!” he said.
“We will no doubt be celebrating tonight.”
His winning entry was bought Nextra Warner, at Warner Village Shopping Centre.
The winning numbers were 44, 15, 34, 29, 21, 20 The supplementary numbers were 33 and 11.
The Lott’s division one winning tally has now reached 223 so far in FY24, including 52 won by Golden Casket customers.
